Tara Raczenski (Ms. Tara), a freelance actress. teacher, writer, director and all around theatre dynamo, has been working with young actors since her move to the Triad in 2001. Becoming an acting instructor for Community Theatre of Greensboro, and eventually Interim Education Director, provided her with the honor and pleasure of coaching, directing, and hopefully inspiring a young generation of performers. Tara went on to direct several shows for Randolph Youth Theatre Company before becoming a mother herself! During that time, Tara began homeschooling and teaching theatre and public speaking classes with various homeschool co-ops,. Though her own kids moved on to other schools. she continues to offer introductory classes in areas such as theatre history, acting styles, stage combat, costume design & construction, public speaking and more. Intent on learning about all aspects of theatre production, Tara became the costume shop manager and resident designer for Little Theatre of Winston Salem and has designed for professional and community organizations around the Triad for the past eight years. With her own three children now (nearly) grown, Tara has
returned to directing. Recent credits include High School Musical for Lexington Youth Theatre, It's a Wonderful Life: Radio Play for Lexington Live, and A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder for Kernersville Little Theatre. She can also be found serving on the KLT board of directors, as well as producing local productions of her own original adaptation, Pride & Prejudice: A New Musical Comedy. Ms. Tara is looking forward to directing Descendants for LYT in 2026, and continuing to help students find success on the stage and in life.
